be mindful. ask your self what am i doing now. i am siting in the meditating position. where is my body. what to you fell from it.
where do you live what noises do you hear right now. Who is making them are you feeling something when you hear this sounds. keep the distraction at the edge of your mind and focus on the breath and the distraction will disappear
If you are meditating to calm yourself down before doing something stressful. the Same thing. Ignore everything. Feel your body. Open and close your hands. Focus on your muscles and breathe. Your mind will try to make excuses for this irrational fear. So focus and ignore all feelings. Put fear on the edge of your mind and focus forward. When your mind is empty of feelings, think logically and focus on your breathing.
Don't give up, you won't succeed the first time, but walk forward
Meditation works. I was bullied in my childhood to the point that it made me afraid to leave the house and by staying at home I turned to a loser and fat. Meditation helped me see the problems in my mind and the source of the fear of leaving the house. Which gave me the courage to change myself.
