most plastic isnt recyclable including some that says it is, most recyclable plastic you put in the recycling bin just gets sent to landfill, alot of what gets sent to recycling firms which i believe are mostly in china cant handle all of it because theres too much and they make no money from doing it so they throw alot of that in landfill too
what little plastic does get recycled will eventually end up in the landfill after one or two recyclings because it either gets randomly thrown away or degrades too much from the recycling process to be recycled again
plastic recycling is also extremely energy intensive and while it lessens the amount of garbage floating around in the oceans and polluting the land it probably cancels that out with how much energy it takes and the gasses produced
