There is no such thing as circumcision, there is only male genital mutilation. The word circumcision itself functions as a kind of euphemism, giving the practice an unwarranted sense of clinical legitimacy due to its etymology in classical western language (Greek/Latin) which is shared by other terms in medicine. One of the important sociological steps in stopping this barbaric practice is to stop giving it the legitimacy that its euphemism connotes. Stop using the word circumcision to describe the practice, and only use the factual descriptor: male genital mutilation.
