i went through a phase of testing a bunch of them

nootropics that work noticeably well are basically analogues or precursors of neurotransmitters like dopamine

other things that are likely to work are analogues and precursors of systemic parts of braincells like choline for example

coffee for example works by attaching itself to the adenosine receptor which is the brains queue for tiredness
