Elon is no different than Werner Von Braun. Just because he "owns" the gigabillions makes no difference. Its just a pile of money used for space. Owning something means you have control over it.
Elon should donate 99% of his stock to a charity foundation of which hes the senior board member and decider. Then it would not be "his" but he would still use it for what it was going to be used. His personal consumption can still be supported by the remaining 1% of stock.

Musk is aimed at traders, gamblers, investors. People who frankly want to do the due diligence behind the companies that ask for access to the public capital markets, i.e. rich gamblers

you can do science without capitalism, but for the silly & insane style of science people like these days, you really need capitalism to abate the noxious fumes
otherwise the mad scientists get too powerful
this is a vast oversimplification of the origin of capitalism in 1600, but the REAL problem is keeping scientists A and B from using their research to cheat at access to the public, either finance or products
science journalism sucks in part because the due diligence required to do it is worth more than you can get, i.e. you shouldn't publish but rather show some rich person your work and get them to invest, then stake your reputation on your work and negotiate compensation from the rich person
this is the hedge fund model

That's another thing capitalism sponsored science can do: you can invest into research that the lowest common denominator in a democracy wouldn't allow. Look at all the people on Twitter shitting on spaceX and want to use those funds for more welfare. The leftists will not only keep themselves down forever due to their victim mentality but they'll drag the rest of us down to their level.
