He believes that cellular automata like those in conway’s game of life, are basically the answer to everything in the universe. He also made countless completely wild and baseless claims in that book, as well as claims that tried to present common ideas in other fields as completely new and revolutionary hypergraph science.
Wolfram seems like a once smart guy who bought into his own hype too much, but then couldn’t deal with the reality that there were a whole lot of people just as smart and smarter than him, yet progress in physics still ground to a halt. So wolfram coped by playing with doodles and claiming it’s a new kind of science that will revolutionize the scientific method.
