>>14023958>How are BEVs an improvement in any way? They cost much more than normal cars, However total cost of ownership is significantly lower like for like due to reduced fuel and maintenance costs.
>take much longer time to refuel or in this case recharge,Irrelevant as nearly everyone does it at home. ICEs you have to make a specific trip to a fuelling station.
>suffer from battery degradation,
ICE efficiency degrades too.
>have a much larger carbon footprint just to produce,
Larger but not much larger, on a normal mix grid they break even within 18 months. The more you drive the quicker the break even point is reached.
>and aren't even designed to be recycled with the enormous toxic batteries ending up in landfills and polluting the water supply.
So people are throwing away these rare expensive minerals when lead acid batteries are amongst one of the most commonly recycled objects today?
>BEVs are disposable. I doubt they'd run 100 years from now like gasoline/diesel engines can.Like the axe of my grandfather, the ICE will only run with significant maintenance. Electric motors on the other hand will run with minimal maintenance for that long and do it regularly.
