That information is irrelevant. Also those are theoretical speeds, in practice the telescope will only send periodic chunks of data, meaning that even if the hardware is there it's completely useless because you cannot possibly establish a stable communication channel between earth and the satellite for more than a few seconds.

Actual speed will be like 10kbps kek

Higher up and down requires more bandwidth. If you say hey let's just go higher frequency then the issue is that you signal becomes more and more directional and can be blocked by shit like the atmosphere. Most of the opposition isn't to the concept of having an IR telescope at L2, it's that NASA made promises on timeframe and costs that they didn't come anywhere close to meeting. It's not just this project, it's almost everything NASA does. They've become just another bloated government agency concerned mostly with social agendas and preserving its own existence. Science is not a high priority for NASA and the resources it consumes could be used to conduct far more science research elsewhere.

Hubble took 18 years to complete (vs 21 for JWST), and cost not much less than JWST (Hubble was $9bn adjusted for inflation. JWST $10~11bn when all’s said and done).

They definitely overestimated how soon the technology would mature enough for use, but JWST was not out of the range for flagship missions like this.
