Cope.

Sure you don't need an Earth equivalent to have a bunch of single celled bacteria on a planet, but you are going to need something very close to Earth if you want to have complex, intelligent AND technologically advanced life.

Not only that, but we now know for sure that Earth-like planets are extremely rare and Sun-like stars are rare.

If there's other technologically advanced life out there, it is almost certainly so far away from us that any kind of interaction with them (even detection) will be impossible. We're talking millions, hundreds of millions or billions of light years away. That's how far the next technological civilization is from us.

We would need hyper futuristic technology to be able to interact with Exoplanets more than a few hundred light years from us. The milky way is 100k light years in diameter.

No technology or scientific discovery will ever let you interact with a planet in another galaxy.

Hell, it's probably impossible to interact with another technologically advanced civilization in our own galaxy if they're just more than a few thousand light years away.

We are, for all intents and purposes, alone.

Cope.
