Why'd we have to get stuck with such a shitty name for our galaxy? Milky way, really. When we merge with Andromeda,we should just call our galaxy Andromeda and never mind the Milky Way part, let alone "Milkdromeda"

At least Lanikea is a cool name for our Supercluster.

In Faroese and Icelandic the home galaxy is called "Vetrarbreytin" and "Vetrarbrautin" respectively.

The first part in both languages is "Vetrar" meaing "of Winter" or "Wintry".

The second part of both words "breyt/braut" roughly translate as "path", "track" or "road".

The third and last part "in" is essentially a definite article meaning "The".

Together these become "The Road of Winter" or "The Wintry Road" or alternatively, "The Track of Winter", "The Wintry Track", "The Path of Winter" and finally "The Wintry Path".

I'm sure other languages have their own names for it.

I for one would appreciate it people from around the world added their names for it.
