ITER will work for certain, and it's also at the scale necessarily to figure out many of the practicalities of a fusion plant. The disruptive fusion start-ups are nothing new, they're just the current generation. People forget all the incredible past claims by companies (e.g. Lockheed Martin) which just never materialise, they just vanish. ITER will be slow and expensive but it will work. 99% that Helion and General Fusion will never get anywhere, and ARC will take a lot longer than they claim.
