>>14001760I watched that part specifically. yes he, does. He actually thinks mega constellations have basically no use whatsoever and that they’re “a threat to low earth orbit and astronomy.” he didn’t actually elaborate on the actual threat to astronomy at all just talked about how space based astronomy isn’t going to take off in a major way over night
His LEO shit was mostly just going omg collisions! but he did say he’s not worried about kessler syndrome. Also he says the atmosphere might shrink due to climate change (??) and that starlink is going to interfere with weather satellites because of its communication band - and i’m pretty sure he’s just completely wrong about the band it uses.
Then he says that satellite internet isn’t useful for developing third world nations (who said it was?) and that it’s probably to pricey for most third world nations. that last one is his first real argument.
he really hates mega constellations but he also admits he doesn’t understand them. There’s very few arguments even in the other segments that feel like real arguments, they feel like speculation, nickpicking, and uneducated guesswork. i don’t think he did any research.
what a waste of my time.
also this is a weird side tangent but it’s funny when the muh astronomy people whine about justice for poor and indigenous people and vice versa because of certain projects like the thirty meter telescope. astronomers sure didn’t seem to give a flying fuck about land rights there.
