it will start unfolding during it's trip to L2 and performing tests. There are 600 actions involved in unfolding the sun shield alone. Then it will start cooling down, this happens at a very slow and controlled rate.
once ready, it will point to a nearby star. the soientists will see 18 separate images of the star, one for each hexagonal panel. the segments will then be painstakingly adjusted until there is only one image. next starts calibration which will take months.
the soientists will be working hard from the moment it starts it's L2 burn
