Savants are pretty much exclusively autists and the mentally retarded.

Autistic savants would be folks with photographic memory, or being able to play absolutely anything from hearing it once on a piano no matter how complicated.
Being able to very easily do stuff even masters in their field would struggle with.
It's also suggested that these savant instances have to do with whatever disability they have, which is why you hear about autistic savants a lot more than practically-lobotomized-vegetable savants.
