It really doesnt look like the previous waves. I get that deaths can lag cases, since it takes time for cases to progress to the patient dying, but its been long enough to see.
Three weeks ago, in SA, there were 8k cases in a day, and today there are 35 deaths. During the delta wave, three weeks after 8k cases per day, there were 400 deaths in a day. 35 is a lot lower than 400.
