>>13989851You're exactly right it can only observe yellow and some orange light well in the visible wavelengths.
But it's an IR telescope, which is the frequency below those, which gold reflects very well. The telescope looks at heat because for the oldest and furthest away objects, only IR light reaches us.
They can still color these images so we can tell tell features apart, but it won't be how the human eye would see them. Which we can't do anyway because the exposure time on space images is really long and all these beautiful hubble images you see in visible light are too dim for us.
