I don't post it frequently at all compared to how badly I want it. It is literally my only goal so I don't post about it nearly as much as I should. What's wrong with making these threads anyways? Someone has to since having a secret underground lab is every science enthusiasts dream.

if you knew what you would be doing with a lab you wouldn't have asked this. for some stuff you can literally just do it in the kitchen with an open window. having a lot of lab experience can make you save a lot of money by skipping certain lab procedures

Just in case you are being serious, it's time te reflect. Modern consoomerism has rewired our brains into caring about WHAT we want instead of WHY we want it. Most of the time we are being sold tools without a real purpose. What would you use this new lab of yours for if it were to magically materialize right now in front of you?
Don't buy or build things having "just in case" as the sole reason, the project must always come before the tools, and the tools must be the appropiate ones for the job that needs to be done.
Please think about this, self realization hit when I bought an arduino without a real goal in mind and has been a paradigm shift for me.

Not OP, but the mid-atlantic region of the US has been hit with floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, ice storms, blizzards, straight line winds, riots and small earthquakes. Looking into hardening structures, underground structures, and how to bug out if SHTF more than you can handle isn't unreasonable. Unfortunately my house is in a low lying area where the water table is only slightly below the ground.

So we agree then? Building a shelter because your area is prone to natural disasters serves a goal, building an undefined lab doesn't. Maybe I'm not using the right words but "I'll build a shelter so I can survive if a high probability disaster happens" serves a purpose, while "I'll build a lab in case I want to do science stuff" does not.

You would also need to follow regulations and probably have experience just to ensure you're aware of all the other shit

There's a reason this stuff is made by teams and not single engineers.

Also you probably wouldn't want that lab, pretty sure there are multiple OSHA regulations broke in that picture alone.

Just buy a moderately size shed with elevated ground (optional)
