Brain cells doesn't equal a brain, nor the human brain cells are special to other animals.
That news is empty of important info (doesn't say why it "learns faster than AI") and sounds more like an advertisement for company (CorticalLabs) as if looking for investors.

i'd guess the reason it 'learns faster' (by what metric we do not know) is due to the fact that neurons have had billions of years to become efficient at learning new patterns

Wouldn't having one single sample from a human with known neurological issues skew the data? I'm no brain surgeon but that seems poor data gathering. What if he has lower density of ion channels because of his epilepsy or sonething?
