thats one in the same thing, anon. When you have resonance the wave reflects back on itself making a standing wave. The wavelength of 2.45GHz is about the size of the cavity in the butter. It just seems to have been in a node .

Nah, there's a dependence on resistivity but it doesn't need to be like copper.

Sure that could be the case. I think that skin effect + what the other guy said about a node might be the full explanation, but in the end I'm not sure what the reason is. It was just my initial guess.
