IQ tests are not scientific, it doesnt measure pure intelligence but also the kinds of knowledge associated with industry and westert style elementary schools. Such as geometry, literacy, etc.
Ask an ashkenazi jew from a ghetto to take an IQ test, he wont understand any of the questions because he wont know what "angles" are, and he will fail all literacy questions because he will believe all the right answers to be based on some talmudic argument and not on math logic.
So just saying theres a huge cultural element to IQ tests, the taker is expected to live in your same basic culture and have had a similar education. The tests measure how good you are in these types of environments, that are similar to institutional work environments, and not intelligence.

If you see three lines crossed together you would naturally not think anything from it. You would not have a world in your language for the concept of three lines crossed together, or three points. Its something babies only start grasping when they play with these wooden figures and the first concepts they learn in school. But take that out and a wild child would not know what triangles are, much less would think of their mathematical properties, in fact he would not have a concept of what math is.

The capacity to stack rectangular bricks doesnt imply some abstract knowledge about rectangles as mathematical objects. You can see this with kids and the natural numbers,a kid knows what an apple is, or 2 apples or 3 apples, but they dont know what "1" or "2" or "3" is unless taught.
Early humans didnt know any of this, the sumerians kept records by filling small clay pouches with clay spheres, 3 spheres meant 3, 7 spheres meant 7, and so on. Eventually they learned they could just make marks on clay and not have a number of physical clay spheres to represent amounts. This was mathematical discovery, and babies dont do this naturally.

Its not "shapes" retard, its geometry. Knowing how to stack bricks doesnt mean you can calculate areas or know theoretical facts about angles, such as that the sum of the angles of a triangles are 180 degrees. A baby would never know how to calculate an area with being taught in school or by his parents. And would not have any capacity for abstraction either. For the uneducated a triangle is always some physically object shaped like a triangle, or a sphere is a physical ball, and numbers always refer to things you are counting like apples, kids know what 3 apples are, they dont know what "3" means.

It would still be false that humans only know about supernovas because they've been taught about them. It would still be the case that every coherent concept on the way to figuring out supernovas was conceived of by a single person with no prior knowledge of that concept (including every coherent stange in the evolution of a given conept). It would still be true that little children don't need adults to teach them that shapes exist.

So why do we place emphasis on IQ so much if we can agree that the secret to success is multi-generational knowledge and application? Most technology and discoveries is derived from efforts spanning generations. Even technologies or discoveries that come from a single generation requires multiple years/ decades to iron out.

Yet somehow people think a test that last 30 mins to an hour can yield an honest answer concerning intelligence of a person or a people. Seems extremely disingenuous given how real world human development works.
