I don't know, maybe in some borderline cases, you can instill the habit of self-reflection in a kid, but that's not something to be done in an impersonal classroom setting, and it's not something that can be directly instructed; the only reliable way to get someone to self-reflect is to ask them personal questions that require it, and the only way to instill it as a habit is to ask them such questions regularly.
