>>13982425>what happens to consciousness after a person dies ?a good read on the subject is "the soul after death" by father seraphim rose. he presents a rather narrow-minded idea of the after-life based on orthodox christian theology that i do not agree with ("the twenty toll-houses"), but the chapters of said book on what near-death-experiences are like and what similarities they share are highly interesting to anyone seeking more information on the subject.
tl;dr: when you die, everything happens according to logic, physical laws and so forth. your brain slowly dies? then your conscience fades (like going to sleep), as would be expected according to modern medicine etc. ==> this happens UP TO THE POINT OF YOU ACTUALLY DYING. from that moment on, you suddenly see yourself outside of your physical body, newly awakened, feeling better, lighter, more at ease than you have ever felt.
after watching yourself physically die (unable to communicate with the living) and comprehend that experience, your soul then starts to ascend towards heaven, which it is trying to reach.
essentially, the souls that do not end up making it (way > > > 90%) fall back to earth and get reincarnated (according to karma!), while the ones that do make it end up becoming literal saints/angels.
tl;dr (2): earth is hell, the very lowest dimension. the very worst thing that can happen to you in this reality is a shitty life on earth. the best thing that can happen to you is to become one with god - with literal perfection in and of itself, for what will seem like an eternity (until you fall again through *consciously* choosing evil).
we unironically live in the greatest world that could possibly exist - a world so incomprehensibly good and filled with love and joy that even hell itself (earth) is kind of ok for most people most of the time.
