here's how I as a stupid person would attempt it
first work out a = 7.07 but I may have input that wrong into the calculator
so 2a is 14.14 = sqrt2x
199.93 = 2x
round up to x = 100
is that totally wrong?

I didn't remember the square root of 2 was 1.41 i was thinking it was 1.14 so yeah in that case I would've gotten this question wrong
as far as I'm concerned theres no way to work out square roots by hand

if you know what square root is then you should be able to read this solution.

yeah but how can you know the square root of 2 without a calculator or memorization?
yeah sure you can do algebra to move the numbers around to avoid it but in real life when I do stuff like this I just use a calculator and do it from left to right or logical order. PEMDAS is only for when someone writes something down for other people to read but if I'm solving my own problem in my own head it's irrelevant.
