They simply used tissue samples and then took measurements, but that doesn't tell us how it may work in an actual person. A ten fold decline in lung replication is good, but in a person, the insane viral load of the upper respiratory tract is likely to get inhaled into the lungs, so more than likely the viral load of the lungs is not going to be reduced by ten fold. The S. Africa data looks good and would seem to confirm Omicron isn't as dangerous, but I still want to see how things go in Western countries over the next month.
