Part 1:

My situation/a little backstory:

I'm currently at the end of a 6-month IT bootcamp. I've done well up until now, and will most likely finish next month. The program is affiliated with the military and ivy league institutions, has big donors, and regularly sends people to the NSA, pentagon, fbi, cia etc. upon graduation. I've also graduated from an elite uni with a good gpa, just not STEM related. Despite that, like I said, I've been doing well.

The reason I'm posting here:

I'm just genuinely curious. I imagine some of you guys are at least somewhat smart. I also imagine that some of you are not only at least somewhat smart, but also STEM college grads. What is your HONEST opinion on STEM college professors/educators?
More specifically, I ask this because, out of the handful of STEM courses I've taken in college, the professors were horrible. My calc professor, for example, who holds a PhD from MIT, was probably the worst professor/teacher I've ever had in my entire life. Why? He didn't use a textbook. He's esl (French), but I honestly don't know how he's allowed to teach because he could barely speak and understand english. And this may make him seem like a cartoon character, but he rarely showed his work when doing problems. There's more, but I feel like that would make this seem like a troll post. They weren't all like him, but they had similar characteristics. However, all were always dumbfounded when people failed their classes/weren't doing well, and for some reason they thought they were doing a good enough job to think it would be appropriate to "raise standards".
