I'm 18 (and a half) and about to finish High School (So 12th year of education). Are you telling me I have to learn garbage (some of which I already learned in my free time - Comp Sci stuff, stuff for the Polish OI) for AT LEAST another three years before I can "actually" work?

Please tell me there is a better way

Yea it sucks, but if you don't you will be a neet at 29 with no job, or working at mcdonalds. You can get an associates degree at community college, then transfer, if you want to save a bit of money, but depending on your degree it might take an extra year.

i went full tryhard into software development back when the thought of "what will my job be" at school came along. Frankly, the amount of time spent for the reward isn't worth it. If i could try again i'd just try to play the financial system as hard as possible and keep programming or, in your case, $FIELD as a hobby i actually enjoy doing

if you have any actual skill then you should be able to get a programming job even without a degree. Just get a CS cert and that'll probably be good enough for most employers that demand a piece of paper (again assuming you're actually skilled)
