Call me a retard like I know you will, but I have a stupid question for you that I genuinely can't seem to figure out on my own that I want a proper interactive response to, not some google search trash.

In a hanging chain, do the chain links near the bottom experience higher tension than the ones above it or do they experience the same tension? Why? Obviously the ones at the top have the ones below them pulling down and vice versa, but the link at the bottom doesn't need to bear the weight of the ones below it, no?
