I took a summer class in a state college (University of Houston), anon
I aced it, and that told me that I wasn't a total moron
I came back to the actual college, kept the credits from the state college, got gud at the classes there

Two times. The first was after I had a 1.9 gpa freshman year. I was not mature enough to do well, and took a differential equations course over the summer that taught me how to learn efficiently even in hard courses.

Second, was right before and during covid I learned how to actually bust ass which led to an acceptance at a top school despite a mediocre transcript.
