It doesn't help that the head of Moderna is publicly making claims that omicron and delta will merge into some kind of transformer set on killing us all.
All of virologists who have commented on this have said omicron is displacing delta, not supplementing it nor merging with it. Omicron uses up all of the receptor sites delta needs, making it impossible for delta to reproduce. You'd have to catch delta first and then omicron to end up with both and that wouldn't last long as omicron would quickly muscle out delta.
