Why don't we make all electrical outlets wireless like the one in your electric toothbrush station.

Pros
>No danger of electrical shock because no electric metal to touch
>No problems with dust and water because no electric metal to fuck up
>Easier to plug in because tight firm fit against electric metal not necessary

High energy loss, low amount of power delivery.
There's a reason why wireless power is mainly used for things like cell phones and toothbrushes.

The Idea is nice. But it would be a bit bulcky and expesive. To transform power, an isolated AC to AC switching converter would be required in the 2kW power class. Costs roughly 50USD, efficency 90%, size of a Notebook supply. The Split between the Outlet an the Plug would be in the Transformer. If techicaly doable it will for Sure geht hot af.

Thanks for an interesting and on topic reply. Just as a note, in Europe electrical outlets are 3.7kW so I guess the apparatus would be even bigger.

But surly there must be a way to make it smaller than a notebook supply?
