Mods please do not move this thread. This is a thread for Guillain-Barré Syndrome and my dad who is paralyzed. I'm desperate and need some autists.
>Father 72 year old male with history of alcoholism
>Months back he had a UTI infection that turned into sepsis
>Was ventilated and the whole 9
>Recovered but wasn't quite the same
>Month or two later he started having strange symptoms
>"Anon, I can't dress myself. I need your help"
>Then he can barely walk
>Then he can barely move his arms
>Starts staring up eyes high and face completely contorted out of nowhere
>We put him in a physical rehab hospital
>His o2 drops like a fucking rock. Down to like 50% and he's rushed to the ER
>Immediately back on the vent and he's diagnosed with an infection
>Vented for 42-72 hours
>Off the Propofol, Fentanyl and Versed for like 3 days and he's still nonresponsive and can only open his eyes.
>Still can only barely squeeze hand and that's it
>Days later he "wakes up" and can sort of speak
>Currently can only move left arm but can squeeze both hands
>He went on the vent Nov 30
>Still can't swallow
They did a spinal fluid thing and found nothing. I'm worried he might have Guillain-Barré Syndrome. I'm spooked. Is it possible he has it???? Doctors are puzzled and offer up no diagnosis for the sudden paralysis.
