LUVOIR-A
was supposed to be a 15m aperture space based telescope.
LUVOIR-B
was supposed to be a 'scaled down' version, coming in at 8m aperture.
LUVOIR-C
what we're actually getting. a 6m aperture space based telescope. the 8m aperture was already likely to not be big enough to reliably detect earth-like planets, yet what we're getting in reality is even smaller.
We won't be getting another project like this in our lifetimes. It's over for exoplanet astronomy unless Europe or China build a 15m or 20m space telescope.
