I don't think there's much evidence for this.
While a 13th century pleb did a lot of farm work that can be done much more efficiently with todays tooling, it's not at all clear that the life of people working today are perceived as more pleasureful and full of leisure. Given work today can yield more output and life expectancy is up, is it the case that the worker today feels happier than the worker felt previously?
The insight that there's room for improvement as far as felt experience goes is exactly the reason for politics, including utopian projections and the corresponding arguments from Marxists, liberterians, conservatives and the life.
The only thing that's arguably clear is that turning the world more technocratic will lead in worse perceived life happiness.
