Can someone studying data science or information science maneuver their way into the earth sciences field? My passion growing up was volcanoes and tornados but my dumb ass studied art in college. I'm turning it around and I'm in a Masters program focusing on information retrieval, databases, and data science(probably more so data analytics). Is there a career trajectory where I could end up doing data related work for the National Weather Service or volcanologists or some shit? Or is that exclusively for people who have majored in those fields?
