A lot of the smart and wealthy are have already anticipated that event, or in the process of preparing for it now. Within the next decade many more will also jump onto survival strategies. One thing you can be sure is that many of them, from smart strategists to wealthy people with advisors and lots of money, are not wanting lifestyle regression to pre-industrial times, and will do their best to avoid it. There is sure to be a wide variety of survival strategies, some will be more successful than others. But at least some of them will be looking at creating the nucleus of small defensible enclaves which can maintain a functioning high tech society with access to strategic resources. Where they will watch, and defend, as everything goes to utter shit around them. You can be sure they will not be welcoming to refugees of any race or nationality.
Lets say for argument you are a multi millionaire who is convinced there is a very good chance of SHTF within the next few decades. Your main concern will be insuring your personal well being against collapse and creating a secure modern environment when it does happen. What sort of steps would you be looking at taking to ensure a comfortable old age and a quality future for your children?
But such thinking is not limited just to the wealthy, many people are beginning to see the writing on the wall, and they will be making, or at least thinking about their options. How does the ordinary person escape the mad max chaos, or at the very least minimize its effects. Probably by networking with like minded people at first and then building a plan from there.
