>>13953637Calc 2 was trash because it was just relatively obscure formulas that were just "people already figured out how do integrate over this area, so here's the equation for it, now memorize it."
I also got an A, but because notecards were allowed on midterm and final so they were basically free 100s
The prof literally emailed me to ask me what I did to do so well while others do badly, I told him "Do the homework and then write the answers on the notecard for the test".
>>13955163People keep brining up california as this liberal shithole that doesn't properly teach math but they are forgetting the entirety of the south, where I grew up. In the city, calculus isn't even an option and in my suburban highschool of over 3,000 people, only 3 seniors took calculus because my highschool was one of the better ones and it was literally just a college prof who would come to the highschool for an hour a day to teach it.
Math just is not taught whatsoever in the south, and I'm telling you now if they required passing algebra to pass highschool, 95% of the black population, which was 60% of my highschool population, wouldn't graduate in 4 years.
Abolishing D and F grades for urban students is just putting an official act on policy that's already put in place.
