A while back we had a thread about that rice experiment where you affect the rice by being nice or mean to it and I decided to do it for myself. Execution was not perfect but the results are interesting enough to be worth a followup with better methodology - with the exception of one jar, the nice group did fair better than the other groups. Here's what I did and some improvements that should be made:
>started early fall (should start in spring so mold won't slow down from the cold)
>cooked rice in pan (should use rice cooker for more even cooking)
>scooped rice into jars randomly (should use round-robin for each group)
>should have worn a mask to avoid contamination
>used whatever jars I had (should use all the same kind)
>sterilized jars in boiling water before scooping
>say nice things to the nice group and mean things to the mean group (eventually starting treating each jar individually, should have done that from the start)
>accidentally called the nice group a bunch of niggers once or twice
Here's images of the top and bottom for each group. Bottom I think is better for comparing because the surfaces are all the same shape.
