Hi, /sci/lets, I need some advice.
Recently I've made enough money in crypto to last me for a couple years and I want to use those years to self-study.
I mainly want to focus on math and computer science, but I don't know where and how to start. Should I be reading books? If so, which ones. Should I be using Youtube or other websites? If so, which ones? I'm 29 years and I did an WAIS IV IQ test a couple months ago with a result of 134, but a processing speed of 90. I don't care about the test that much, but it might give you some sense of potential ability. Thanks in advance

I'm a student currently, but de facto dropped out. I live in a studio I rent in a city in Western Europe.

No debt except for some speeding tickets.

I am investing it, but my particular situation makes it such that I have enough money, including investing some of it, to be free of waging for the next couple of years.
I've been a neet since about 25, before that I was working as a waiter in the summers and doing psychology in uni (only picked it cause I didn't know what to do.

I do have mental health issues (traumatic youth, depression, personality disorders) and I have trouble concentrating, if it's relevant.

most of it is already reinvested
i get collegebux and even if i officially drop out, i can get neetbux cause of my mental health issues
since i feel like uni isnt the place for me, i want to instead study on my own terms

Depends on how you want to use that math and comp sci knowledge, got any idea on what spells you wanna cast once your this realities closest thing to a wizard?

These things you described are quite new phenomena, as such, the bloated and big named institutions will not have any adequate form of education around them, one is better off at independent study.

Are you looking for employment in these fields, or are you anticipating to live of farm APY while busying yourself in these matters?

I'd start by targeting a project you find interesting than, and than work in reverse to understand it with the goal of getting a contribution on it

Maybe better biology or farming. Physic etc. are "depressing" in themself. You always handle things greater and older then you and never influenceable. Stay away from the Psycho-Pseudoscience too.

I would try to volunteer in some scientific gardening, tropical house Seaside Aquarium etc.

Cash out. Save your money. Keep your job.

Some bitter truths:
Odds are, you will probably loose it all faster than you expect, like a few months.

Inflation is making you poor already.

You have chump change compared to budgets needed.

You will never make a breakthrough in science or math. The problems like a unified theorem of physics or Riemann's Hypothesis are incredibly complex and will never be solved.

There's years of work behind them and other people are an expert in all. They don't just know the scientific principle. They know the experiments that were done.

There are billion dollar institutes with timelines that span generations that won't do them. They raise people like pro sports or the Olympics. You're not one of them. Even they are just working the job like a cashier. Getting the patient out of the hospital if they can, not curing a disease.

You will never make a breakthrough in medicine. Gene space is on a cosmic scale. Neurology is exponentially complex. The best bet for any of that is xenotransplants, and another animal that you kill does all the hard work.

I hope I drove you away. Best thing I could do. Find a job you like. Save your money. Don't tell anyone about it. And just take the high easy road. Best option.

This is solid advice. Even if you are incredibly intelligent and talented. Years ago I was naive enough to believe that smart and wealthy people should do more to help advance science as well as help educate others less able and less wealthy. Then I discovered that dumb and average people are forever dumb, average, and ungrateful. Most see kindness for weakness and seek to exploit that, as they seek to exploit everything else around them. Those among them who do not exploit others nevertheless stand by idly, their inaction being a form a tacit acceptance. That's when I understood smart and wealthy people, ignore the idea of building a better world, just line their own pockets, stay in their own little circle and insulate themselves from the rest of the barbaric world with money. I wish I had learned this much earlier.
You are much better off to take the position of the smart and wealthy people, pay a little bit of lip service to the social good while really not caring much at all. Use you talents and money to build your own little Empire and watch from afar, in a safe space, as the boot continues to stomp down on the face of the the Earth. Your mission is to survive and raise children who posses an equally pragmatic view.

No it's the opposite. Those people are fortunate. They think if they do enough sit-ups or take enough herbal supplements they will never face pain and death. To educate them would be to destroy their hope. They would come to the conclusion that what we need is centuries if not millennia away. A GR field theory either is impossible or infinite.
