Judaism acted as something like a eugenics program through its relation to non-Judaism in Europe. Probably another special ingredient that separates European Jews on average is that they also selected for or accidentally developed higher frequencies of other traits that lead to other elements of genius, such as ones also related to schizophrenia and autism. Don't know how or why that happened or if, but I reckon it has something to do with the ethnic-religion connection, so they had a strong connection to their own religion that was otherwise difficult or undesirable for outsiders to join, and probably selected for something related to mystical thinking in-tribe, which lends itself nicely to metaphysics considerations which in turn lends itself to considering hidden realities, which is a secret sauce for genius.
