>>13943223Atmosphere is transparent, it's merely "glowing" blue from the light that gets refracted off course, it's not colored blue like a layer of paint. It doesn't "block stars" because you can't see trough it, it's simply too bright during the day. You can for instance see the moon and the sun as well as other bright objects like comets just fine during the day and for that exact same reason you can see the moon you can also see the ground from space. Sky looks lot bluer than it is because space has no light coming from it, the mistake is easy to make because objects that are black on earth are black because of their color, not because of absence of light and you need a strong color to go on top of that to not make them black anymore. But when you have an absence of light that creates the illusion of black it's extremely easy to wipe it out with even little bit of light which is what sky does during the day. As a result it's very easy to see trough it and while it also refracts blue upwards to space it's utterly dwarfed by the light coming from direct reflection from the the ground which is why you can see it easily from space with just a hint of blue tint on top.
You can even test something similar easy enough by taking a phone and putting something say red on the screen and pointing the screen at your wall, with lights on you won't see the color but turn the lights off and it's very easy to see.
