Prefacing this with: I'm a black guy in STEM.
So we know that IQ is mostly genetically determined and black people have the lowest IQ; We have cutting edge technologies such as CRISPR which can be used to change genes.
What's the reason for not dramatically increasing the IQ of a few black people with this technology and encouraging those individuals to reproduce as much as possible?
A chinese lone scientist has already proven its possible with his experiments on twins, yet I never heard anything about it other than that one case. What is the reason for this?

Why do they have any say in the matter? Genetic engineering might be a necessary step for humans given that we do not evolve at a rate as fast compared to the past.
Doesn't this mean that they are holding back progress?
Insane amounts of automation are already making lots of menial labor jobs that low IQ people would typically carry out and the jobs that remain are becoming increasingly more intellectually challenging. Why are there not more people pushing for genetic engineering research and trials?

It is being done but not yet openly. We already identified 344 genes that play a role to intelligence like GRIN2B and Cas-9 can modify more than ten thousand genes. Cas-9 is very safe and other methods even safer. Only one in 200.000 edits has a offshoot. Compare that to the rate in which natural evolution cripples humanity.

Why not just mix the races into one? Also IQ doesn't really seem to estimate real life intelligence well. Messing with something that we don't really understand seems like a bad idea.

Even your Chinese lad was a bit of a failure. The girls are probably not particularly resistant to HIV, as neither is homozygous for the allele he was trying to put there, so it didn't really work. Moreover, if it had, what he was trying to do was basically break a protein that's a normal part of most people's immune systems. Sure, that would have had the effect of making them HIV-resistant, but would have made them more susceptible to other diseases such as tick-borne encephalitis.
The CCR5 gene he was editing is also expressed during normal brain development. What's it doing there? We don't really know. How is this affecting mental development in this girls? Who the fuck knows.

A future with gene clinics is inevitable though. Even without CRISPR there are already legal gene clinics where you can select fertilised to IV for the best possible progeny and this will work to increase the IQ of your children even if your wife is black. In 3-5 generations your line will all be 120+ IQ with some genius outliers if you can breed them in.

When they start modifying proper designer babies most Africans will make them look white anyway or at least slowly give them white traits for straight hair, light coloured features etc. When you have mostly white genes there is not much difference to actual whites at that point.

GRIN2B is a famous example of a gene that correlates strongly with higher learning capability. In 2003 scientists modified the GRIN2B genes of some mices and those showed increased learning ability.

He might have a good reason to choose CCR5 as he can explain it away to be medically but in truth to be the first step into human gene augmentation.
Single-gene modifications and its consequences can easily be predicted. Such modification could be made today, quite safely too. The error rate would be 1 to 100.000.
It is already used to cure genetic diseases and there exists no difference in the technique to use it on such single-gene complexes. Far more difficult would be to decipher the interplay between various genes, but beneficial modifications of such complexes were achieved already. Still I agree that, while we could already do some gene enhancements, the public useage of such technology requires a decade and two as well as gradual development (Like using it to decrease the chances of alzheimer/cancer, and such modifications would also lead to increased cognitive ability/health) to become acceptable.

Yeah, it's not scifi anymore. It was never going to remain fiction forever. Besides, the point was that Huxley was very much in favor of this sort of thing, as were pretty much all the elites of his time. The Fabian Society, the Pilgrims Society, etc. His family, along with their contemporaries such as Galton (Darwin's cousin), invented and promoted eugenics. It sort of became taboo after WWII but it was revived and became all the anti-white globohomo we enjoy today.

Gustave Le Bon already discussed this at length in dozens of books in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was unbelievably based and redpilled even for his time. All his work is available for free on the internet archive btw

I don't know how someone could intepret Brave New World as a positive or flattering take. I read the side-note on your page, and the author is intentionally misrepresenting Huxley's essay. In that essay, he acknowledges the problems pointed out by eugenicists, but then goes on to explain the inadequacies of a theoretical eugenicist utopia where no one is naturally inferior, and thus no one is in a position to do society's dirty work. If you read the entire thing, it seems that he's suggesting the future is dire no matter which way we go, and Brave New World, which he wrote later, illustrates a possible outcome.

I personally think that bioethicists having concerns could enshroud the whole field into secrecy and make only a certain group of people benefit from it. Ironically this is exactly what they are fighting against.
What bioethicists should be doing instead is advocating for a way in which gene therapies wouldn't be profit oriented and would be transparent. It's inevitable anyways.

CRISPR is great, but it's not nearly as incredible as everyone likes to make it sound. It's just another way of selecting against wild-type genotypes. It doesn't even generate the mutant; homologous recombination is required to replace the existing gene. It's very difficult to get them to work in many cases.
Genomic computing is very important. For example, a genomic software company hosted a competition where they created an artificial genome as a data file, then split it up into reads that are comparable to what would be received from next-gene sequencing. They sent out the sequencing reads to participating labs and offered a prize for the group that could assemble them the most accurately. They cancelled the competition because the best assembly came back at around 60% correct. That means 40% of the best assembled submission was jumbled nonsense. The huge length of many genomes combined with interference from attachments left over from sequencing it in pieces makes accurate genome assemblies very difficult even with a newer supercomputer. Added to that, only about 2% of the human genome codes for genes, the rest is either regulatory or structural.
Plus, the success rate of generating a single mutant in bacteria with simple, circular chromosomes is very low. Thats in a culture with millions of bacteria, so with human cells it takes huge amounts of time to successfully make mutants. With bacteria, you save the strain with a mutant and then go through the process over and over to make more. With human cells, you would need to make all of the mutations at once, which is unfeasible. When you consider the hundreds or thousands of changes necessary to change something as simple as facial structure, it becomes nearly impossible, and that's assuming you already computed the necessary changes correctly.

CRISPR guide RNAs target a specific region of DNA ~ 20 nucleotides long. The specificity of these guide RNAs can be determined by use BLAST on ncbi website, and MIT and other sites like Thermofisher have gRNA design tools that ensure specificity. This really scared scientists are far as the use in clinic. The other scary thing is that he hasn't published his methodology. Did he use a lentivirus transduction, a transient transfection of the embryo etc, and this will help give other scientists insight about how fucked this kid might be. And yes whole genome sequencing and comparison to reference genomes including the genome before CRISPR editing is required.

No OP is right, most long term studies can prove ~60% genetic, ~40% environmental and I would call 60% "mostly". Of course, people misinterpret this to think that the 40% is about discipline* and studying hard in a rich household or whatever, but it's actually about malnutrition, drug abuse etc. You can't get your IQ higher than your genetic potential, you can only damage and lower.

*Discipline is also provably genetic btw.

Genetic diseases, genetic disabilities could be cured while the genetic causes for cancer, alzheimer, mental disorders like psychosis and physiological dangers could be prevented. Women will be really tall and men will be really small. Intelligence and health are obviously going to be a part of this but the actual size and it's relation to material needs and fecundity are the most important traits to modify for.

It's called outbreeding depression you yards. Why? Because our genomes are EXTREMELY constrained. Essentially this means that at the population level (in humans) most every genetic change causes a cascade of changes in frequencies of other alleles. Unlinked marker frequencies become correlated. You change one gene and you're gonna have to change hundreds of other genes in order to prevent negative selection, and it's almost never clear what those allele changes have to be.

Genetic engineering is a little sketchy. Hard to know what consequences you will have fucking around. Fuck up and you will end up with a person who will have to live with whatever consequences of whatever you did good or bad. Genetic engineering plants and bacteria or other shit is fine as we don't care if we fuck up no human has to live with whatever consequences. But probably not as risky as it makes it out to be. You do some statistical analysis on traits and gene and control for environment and flip whatever you think will do whatever traits. If you are North Korea and don't give a shit you could probably go through a couple people and get whatever traits you desire without any side effects then implement it throughout society. It will take a while as you have to wait you know 20 or so years to see the effect on adults but is possible. Probably also do some sort of procedure to make the test subjects infertile. Its a long game you have to play.

It's wrong to think there's a direct link between biochemical models of genes and life traits. There's likely much more going on. Nuclear decay, nuclear forces, even gravity. This is still very much a quantum biology problem, not a medical or therapeutic problem which is about keeping you out of the hospital and not putting you as well as a billion other people in it forever until you die horribly.

No. Mormons, US asians and other groups all have kids when they can support it, raise them responsible and they have stable population. The issue is the lack of responsibility and the seeking of individual pleasure. We need a greater communal sense. Poor whites in the appalachian also have less kids and they have much in common with urban poor blacks, Mexicans and other unstable groups. African-American have a worse reproduction rate as abortion is used more and more as many young blacks fear responsibility.

What did I just say? Neutral variation in humans is rare because of a concept called genetic or functional constraint. Basically the more constrained the genome of the species is, the less neutral variation exists. This is because a large amount of the mutations across mammalian species evolve convergently. Humans are a highly constrained species, so even changing most "neutral" variations still have an effect on fitness.

Neutral variation DOES do stuff, you're mistaken, even noncoding regions have been found to have purposes. It's a common mistake to believe that a synonymous change in a base pair is "useless" when it's really not.
