Not eating poop, but I can provide a similar experience with sausage a couple years ago. I had sausage in the fridge for a week I think, and was slightly concerned that it was in the fridge too long and may not be safe to eat, so I cooked it extra well to ensure any bacteria would be killed. When I ate it I never got nasty food poisoning, but I consistently got a low grade fever about 2 hours later that lasted for a couple hours. I figured out this pattern after it happened twice.
