I get paid 6 figs and do whatever the hell I want. Sometimes I work the entire 9-5, but most days I'll just set a model training in motion and then spend time automating some other things, and after about 2.5 hours of work I just do whatever. I work from home whenever I want.
It's so goddamn hard to find good coders these days that I have insane job security and can demand whatever I want. Starting next year I'm going full remote and will move to the beach (sounds kitchsy, but there's a 2-body problem involved) where I just bought a bigger house with a dedicated office.
As long as you are not retarded and try to work for FAANG for a tiny bit more money, you can basically do whatever you want. I laugh at the 6am-midnight code monkeys who know a hell of a lot better programming than me but waste their lives on stupid shit.
