It's just doesn't work for the same reason why rockets don't launch from top of mountains or at least highlands or from giant blimps or what ever, these various meme ideas (including the OP's idea of a tower to give fuel boost) are defeated by simple thing which is economics. Sure you could come up with various meme ideas to increase delta V which often gets pseudo scientists hard for some reason but the reality is that getting 2 cheap rockets to orbit is more cost effective than one hugely expensive meme launch, and if you need more juice you can always do some kind of orbital refueling operation or simply design a bigger rocket.
