Would Stephen Hawking be less famous if he didn't have ALS? So much of his fame comes from being the scientist in a wheelchair, the physicist with a disability, etc.

I saw him give a lecture once promoting brief history of time. It was exceptionally boring. Also everything was clearly pre-recorded. At the end there was a Q&A and it took forever to receive a three word answer. He talked a lot about having rampant sex with his nurse

Of course it was pre-recorded, didn't you ever see how he chose the words on that screen of his? He couldn't move enough to type, so it was basically tapping a finger as the word he wanted was highlighted from a list of common words. Must have taken hours to prepare even a short 'speech'.

If truth were known the Cambridge physics department wrote the whole thing as a LARP and channeled it through him to set back any further study for decades. That's how cynical I am.
