>>13933605Working out is a common recommendation but you have to be specific about what you work out. Resistance training has essentially 0 effects on cognition in comparison to cardio.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurobiological_effects_of_physical_exerciseI know it's a wiki link but it's a good summary of the available research. Every positive benefit on cognition mentioned is about aerobic exercise(cardio) with nothing about resistance training, lifting weights is worthless if you want brain gains.
The mechanism that improves your cognition primarily mediated through increased secretion of BDNF that induces neuronal growth in the brain from the elevated heart rate. Other methods to increase BDNF also improve your cognition, but not even close to the level aerobic exercise does. Most supplements that impact your energy metabolism also have an effect on BDNF secretion such as creatine and zinc. There are various other supplements but you'll cover most of the shortfalls caused by nutritional deficiencies with a multivitamin and creatine.
basics like
>don't drink alcohol at all>sleep well>don't be chronically stressed>don't have a BMI over 25>don't sit at home doing nothing all dayare the lifestyle changes you'd also need to implement on top of daily aerobic exercise in order to really maximize your brains performance.
