It was a compelling theory, but each dominant Covid-19 has been weaker than the previous one and after 3-6 iterations (depending on how you count from Alpha to Omicron) the trend seems pretty established. So, will Covid just diminish until it becomes a harmless seasonal flu, or could increasing vaccination rates in the West still produce the required evolutionary pressure to create a high-fatality strain?
