AP Physics. Our school's physics teacher was found to be sexually harassing one of the students in my first semester. He was forced to leave and we had a Ghanian old man start teaching us. I knew I was doomed when he couldn't teach us binary himself and spent 20 minutes looking up a lesson for it on YouTuve. I self-taught myself successfully in the second term but by the third I simply didn't have enough time since he wouldn't let me self-teach during classes. That ended up really fucking up my academic timeline and meant that I had to study humanities primarily instead of astrophysics like I wanted to.

Jeeesus. Trigonometry was the one part of high school math that I really paid attention to because I appreciated it's real-life utility. Then finally when I took vector calculus it was like "Holy shit, math is actually interesting and useful. Fuck, why didn't you tell me 10 years ago?"

I wasn't filtered by a particular subject. I was filtered by never having been challenged in highschool and my consequent murder by university engineering. Back in highschool all I had to do was not fall asleep in class but at university I was like "LOL WTF is studying?"

The only class I dropped was calc 3 when I was 19. The teacher was old as hell and read the textbook the entire class. I just got too far behind and had no motivation to self-teach so I dropped and retook.

QM 2 when we started talking about the helium atom. It became too abstract. I dropped physics for nuclear engineering and make $150k/year now sitting on my ass at home mostly playing Tarkov and modeling with MCNP. Not the worse outcome
