They do not work. People believe they work because of survivorship bias (you just happened to pick the right stock and attributed it to TA when the chance it goes up or down is 50/50).

They don't. The best models on stocks (i.e chaotic univariate time series) are the naive model. Everything else basically gets fucking btfo by the Naive until you start bringing out other predictors.
