My doctor doesn't know what this is
Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I have very sharp stabbing pain in my right eye. I feel no pain until I open my eyes, then I feel like there is a sharp object stuck in my eye socket. It causes extreme pain to open my eye or blink. When it's closed the pain is less intense, but severe pain and photo sensitivity is present while it's open. I wash it out thoroughly at my bathroom sink which changes nothing. The eye is noticeably red. This lasts for about an hour then gradually gets better over the morning. For the rest of the day my vision in this eye is very blurry and mild photosensitivty remains until the evening.
This happens maybe once a week and has been happening for a few months.
I've read that this might be dry eyes so I've started using eye drops daily which changes nothing.
Any idea what this could be?
